The Client: OnStream (National Grid)

Challenges:

The Meter Engineers needed to be Electrical and Gas qualified (With knowledge of installing Gas and/or Electric Meters.
Extremely limited number of engineers with the relevant skills to install the Smart Meter.
This type of Meter had never been installed into domestic properties before.
The contract needed to commence within 4 weeks of initial requirement.

Result:

All targets and deadlines met.
Satisfied customers and engineers.
Ongoing requirements for the engineers that worked on this contract.

Client Statement:

"As a company OnStream first worked with Rig Energy in 2006. Rig Energy were tasked to provide a number of electric metering operatives to support our operation during a shortfall in capacity to achieve additional installations within the East Midlands region.

Following the success of this program, we selected Rig Energy to mobilise a large number of engineers for a “Smart Metering” trial on behalf of a large Utility provider. This program was the first of its kind and unique as there were several parties integrating together to deliver a large number of installations within a specific time frame.

The work was carried out in 2008 and needed over 40 engineers to be recruited in a very short period of time. Rig managed to fulfil every placement and hit all of the criteria set within the project, including hitting time lines, vetting every candidate and ensuring every induction had the required numbers of operatives to ensure a smooth and effective mobilisation for each of the specified areas. At the end of the program, Rig also facilitated the demobilisation of the engineers in a professional and effective manner.

The Client: Carillion/Enterprise/MOD

Challenges:

TUPE Agreement not supplied by exiting contractors.
Volumes of engineers disclosed with limited time frame.
All Engineers needed to be "cleared to work on the MOD" before getting on site.
Locations spread from Cornwall / Devon / Somerset / Dorset / Wiltshire / Berkshire / Oxfordshire / East & West Sussex / London / Kent and Hampshire.
Continual adjustment to the Management Structure.

Result:

Over 100 engineers working through the programme.
30% of engineers taken as PAYE once initial workload completed.
RIG still supplying PAYE and contract labour on the contract 4 years after mobilisation.

Client Statement:

Rig Energy were the sole labour provider for the mobilisation of a £500m project to repair and maintain Married Quarters within the Ministry Of Defence. The mobilisation of the project ran smoothly, taking into consideration the number of inductions and volumes of Engineers required, it was a great achievement from both Rig Energy and Ourselves.
To be able to find and gain MOD Clearance for this volume of engineers (Exceeding 100 contractors) whilst delivering a consistently high calibre of engineer was a great help as the contract and systems were new to the management structure.
